Indeed Post-IT: Halloween Mask and Demons
I could go into the history of why we do this yearly rite of passage which we celebrate super heroes, famous people, action, fantasy and other imagery people. Or Look deeper into the celebration of the dead as they pass from this realm to another….NO. I want to touch base on the other mask we continue to wear long after this holiday is over. Some good, some very bad. As humans we put on many hats to deal with different situations, much like Link in the Legend of Zelda games. As a gamer, you are always presented with a problem and a solution. You just need to find the connection. But sometimes in life we have no immediate solution, and we move on without addressing the problem. When it becomes too big, we pretend it doesn’t bother us. At that point, to prevent others seeing this burden, we put on a mask showing we are doing well, and moving right along. Never showing the problem we have in tow. Same as when we lie to another to get the results we want. The mask continues to hide the truth.
Wearing a mask wears you out. Faking it is fatiguing. The most exhausting activity is pretending to be what you know you aren’t. – Rick Warren
By all means, this problem is something we can resolve, only when we can take the mask off and be who really are. Not too long ago, I dealt with someone who removed their mask, and I didn’t like what I saw. The front they presented was a fake one and I was more hurt by the lie then the actual revile. Granted in time it may heal, but the damage was done.
You wear a mask for so long, you forget who you were beneath it. – Alan Moore
For Halloween, enjoy the person you are. Be something you always wanted to be for a night, but always remove the mask at the end. The person they see is more true and enjoyable than you will ever know. Also not having that problem riding your back is a tremendous relief. May also save on those massage charges…..
